The Rings

All authors have a thing that they do when they write: use a special mug or pen, listen to a special playlist or go to a specific location. I wear rings. With each novel that I write I search for rings that have something to do with the story and inspire me. I wear them throughout the process of writing and editing and then they get retired onto a ring frame that hangs on my wall just beyond my desk.

For Love, Cutter I wore three rings, one with a meat cleaver, another had a pocket knife with a mother-of-pearl handle, and the last one was a hamburger and fries. What do these have to do with the novel? Read it and find out!

I love to promote the shops, mostly Etsy, that I purchased each ring from.  As with many small businesses sometimes the Etsy shop links may lead to a shop that has been closed down or on a break.

The Spine Shuffle Bookstore

Cottonwood Books is a quaint & amazing bookstore in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! The owner, Danny Plaisance, is the perfect resource for all things literature, new and used!!

The Hospital Coffee Shop

Located in Denham Springs, Louisiana is a coffee shop that I go to often! While it is a national chain, the people that work there make you feel like family! Especially, Ms. Debra!

Creole Creamery Ice Cream

It is The Creole Creamery! The Lavender Honey flavor is one of my favorite treats!! My daughter swears I went to New Orleans for this more than for her!!

Boudreaux's Burger's, Boudin, & BBQ

Several inspirations: a restaurant that closed down years ago, Cafe' Roux, another one my husband frequents (which says a lot), and two great cooks, my husband, Larry, and my paternal grandfather, Harry.

Mile Marker
214

I travel over the I-10 Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge often to get to New Orleans! Anyone who has been across it can tell you it is long and desolate.
The number
is inspired by Ephesians 2:14.

The Hospital
Gift Store

Several places inspired the hospital gift store: one is the Slidell Memorial Hospital Shop where my Aunt Gail volunteered, and another is Rose & Jane, products which I love!
