Midlife Mishaps of the Middle-Aged Woman
Madeline McCleary worked hard at being a good wife and mother. Married for twenty-four years to her high school sweetheart, Paul, they lived a comfortable life in the suburbs. At least, she thought they had, until their last child goes away to college and her husband tells her he wants a divorce.
Having not officially worked for much of their marriage, at her husband’s behest, Maddie spent most of her adult life fulfilling plans for other people’s lives. Focusing on her family’s needs and their successes left her with little time for anything else. So, after the devastating news, she finds herself lost with very few skills to find a job and start her new life. Now in her late forties, Maddie must spend her midlife years starting over. In the process, she finds that sometimes life’s biggest detours can also be our saving grace. |
